Fashionista Dress to impress for the Ladies day competition at championship village

Style stakes were high on the second day of The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship presented by EGA, as fashionistas dressed to impress at the highly anticipated ‘Ladies Day’ competition in the Championship Village.

The attention of village-goers was drawn to the main stage, where Jennifer Cullen was crowned this year’s champion of the ‘Best Dressed’ competition, deemed by Emirates Woman magazine. Jennifer was overwhelmed as she was awarded two business class tickets to Milan, as well as entrance to Milan Fashion Week, courtesy of Etihad Airways.

Jennifer Cullen said: “I am absolutely shocked! The fashion here is amazing, there’s been a lot of competition and really didn’t think I stood a chance. I was very nervous walking down the catwalk, but I did it with the support of my sisters – they made me enter the competition. They said I’d be in with a chance and they were right!”

England cricket hero Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff hosted a cricket workshop for talented youngsters, teaching them the basics of the game in a fun and active way. The HSBC Sporting Ambassador enjoyed putting his golfing abilities to the test at Topgolf Crush, where the popular game features outside the USA for the first time.

Speaking about his first time at the Championship, he said: “It’s my first time at the event and it’s absolutely incredible! Any sport is always trying to attract a younger audience and the Championship Village is fully equipped for that with lots of activities and games for the family. To anyone thinking of visiting– get yourselves down here! ”

The entertainment continues tomorrow (Saturday) with the Championship offering free entry for anyone wearing Championship red.  Fans, families and friends will enjoy sports activities, tempting food truck cuisine and competitions in the Championship Village, in between watching the likes of current Abu Dhabi champ Tommy Fleetwood, World No. 1 Dustin Johnson and fan-favourite Rory Mcllroy compete on the course.

The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship presented by EGA is hosted by Abu Dhabi Sports Council and runs until Sunday 21 January 2018 at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
